Taxpayers beware!
Midgley Snelling is aware that some of our clients are receiving fraudulent emails which look as if they have been sent by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
These so-called ‘phishing’ emails inform the recipient that they are due a tax rebate, but are simply a means of stealing an individual’s details in order to take money from their account.
As HMRC will only contact those due a refund in writing by post, anyone who receives such an email should forward it to phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk before deleting it permanently.
