Weybridge Accountants Gain Global Insight
Three partners from Weybridge-based accountancy firm Midgley Snelling recently returned from a conference in South Africa, where they were given an insight into the latest economic trends both on the continent and around the world.
They were attending the annual conference of MGI, a global alliance of auditing, accounting and consulting firms, each of whom support each other by providing expert local advice and commercial knowledge to their fellow members and their clients.
As well as various meetings at a national and regional level, the alliance holds a global get-together once a year where representatives from a wide cross section of countries meet to share knowledge and ideas
Midgley Snelling was the founder member of MGI which has been in existence since 1947 and partners Andrew Grout, Jonathan Farrow and Robin Sewell were among those representing the UK at the event, which took place from October 13 to 15 in Cape Town.
As well as having the chance to network with other members and hear about the latest developments within MGI, the delegates also heard from guest speakers who talked about issues ranging from interpreting client feedback and strategic planning to the surprising similarities between how big businesses are run and how African tribes survive in the bush!
Robin said: “The main purpose of these meetings is to give us the chance to network with members from other countries – it’s a great opportunity to build relationships so that when we refer clients to other firms in MGI, we can be confident that we are referring them to someone who we know personally.”
“It was a great conference with a good cross-section of attendees and some of the best speakers I have heard.”
