Small businesses quizzed on political parties economic proposals
Small businesses are being quizzed by Surrey accountant Midgley Snelling on the important economic announcements from the 2011 Party Conference season.
Business owners are being urged to share their opinions on the big issues that could affect them in an online survey.
The Conservative Party, Liberal Democrats and the Labour Party have all set out key policy announcements during their annual conferences which they believe will benefit the business community and economy as a whole.
Policy announcements by the Conservative Party include increasing the qualifying period to claim for unfair dismissal to two years, “credit easing” to cut the cost of borrowing for small business, and re-affirming a commitment to cut Corporation Tax.
Among many proposals, the Liberal Democrats are urging more controls over executive pay and a mansion tax on large properties, while announcements by the Labour Party include a plan to reverse January’s VAT rise for a temporary period, and a one-year National Insurance break for small firms taking on extra staff.
James Beecher, a partner at Midgley Snelling, said the survey would give the accountancy practice a greater understanding of what clients believe would have the greatest impact in helping to stimulate the economy.
