No rest for Surrey accountants
Partners at Weybridge-based chartered accountants Midgley Snelling travelled to all four corners of the globe over recent months as part of their international commitments.
Partners, Stephen Yeates, Andrew Grout, Jonathan Farrow and Robin Sewell jetted off to five different continents to visit clients, lawyers, accountants and fellow members of MGI, the international accounting alliance which was founded by Midgley Snelling over 70 years ago.
In November, Robin Sewell visited Kenya to meet clients and attend board meetings of a major media group of which he has been non-Executive Chairman for over 10 years.
Later that month Robin also visited Capetown, South Africa, to meet with several wealthy families who now have children scattered across the world and who Robin advises on trust, tax and general succession planning.
Andy Grout a former chairman of MGI, visits Asia regularly and so was recently in Singapore where he met with the MGI member firms based there, also taking the opportunity to meet with the largest law firm in Singapore as well as clients from Australia.
Jonathan Farrow, international co-ordinator of MGI, last month flew to Moscow to meet clients, MGI associate Delovoy Profil and Fleming Family Partners – a large capital management firm - to discuss potential areas of common interest.
Meanwhile Stephen Yeates crossed the Atlantic to meet with clients, lawyers, accountants and fellow MGI members in New York, Philadelphia and Boston.
Stephen then set off in the opposite direction to visit Australia, meeting with clients, MGI members and lawyers in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
Robin said: “Midgley Snelling is a local firm but has always had a global outlook and we have been building relationships for many years not only at home but throughout the world.”
“We have a large base of international clients and to properly service them means not only working with fellow accountants and lawyers worldwide but also regular meetings in our client’s home countries, so it is a rare month when at least one of our partners isn’t travelling somewhere overseas.”
“With a dedicated International Department, we have built an extensive knowledge in all aspects of international business, including both corporate and personal matters.”
“In addition, our membership of the international accountancy alliance MGI means we have access to and are in regular contact with similar professional firms worldwide.”
“This travelling to exotic parts of the world may seem extravagant, but literally, “going the extra mile” is part of the high level of service we deliver and which is expected when it comes to advising and working with global clients.”
