Trainee Tax Junior 2019 Summer Intake

Our trainee tax position would suit an intelligent and proactive A level student or graduate with excellent communication skills.

This is a trainee role and includes training towards professional qualifications. The role is within our Tax team and will involve learning all aspects of Private Client Tax and Corporate Tax, across a very broad range of clients. This role will include completion of self-assessment tax returns for individuals, partnerships and trusts; completion of corporation tax returns for companies; completion of other tax compliance tasks such as forms P11D and ATED returns; supporting senior members of the tax team with ad-hoc tax compliance and advisory projects; administrative support for the tax team; and eventually liaising with clients and HMRC over the phone, by email and by letter.

In order to be considered for this role you will have at least three A Levels, C or above (excluding general studies), and including A level Maths. If a graduate applicant you will also have achieved a 2.1 or above in your degree. Overall a strong mathematical academic background including excellent GCSE grades is essential, together with an interest in Business and Tax, and the desire to begin a career in practice. A full UK driving licence together with your own transport is an advantage.

Management Accounting Assistant
Management Services

Main Duties

  • Book keeping for multiple companies including, sales ledger, purchase ledger, bank reconciliations, expenses, company credit cards, petty cash and intercompany.
  • Processing various types of foreign currency transactions and reconciliation of foreign currency bank accounts.
  • Providing additional services to clients who have outsourced their accounting function, including raising sales invoices, credit control and dealing with supplier / employee payments.
  • Management accounts including prepayments, accruals, depreciation and all balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparation of VAT Returns. Dealing with foreign invoices, EC acquisitions, reverse charge adjustments and EC Sales Lists.
  • Providing payroll services to clients including monthly, quarterly and yearly payrolls, period end returns and HMRC compliance.
  • Assistance with book keeping for offshore entities as required.

Technical Knowledge and IT Skills

  • Full understanding of double entry book keeping and management accounting.
  • Good understanding of basic VAT rules and procedures relating to output VAT, input VAT and foreign transactions.
  • Good experience of using Sage 50, Xero, QuickBooks Online or similar accounting packages.
  • Use of MS Office packages to intermediate level, including Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Good understanding of spreadsheet formulas and ability to apply them correctly to new and existing spreadsheets.

Other Skills and Attributes

  • Confidence and ability to deal with a variety of clients (both UK and overseas) with differing procedures and requirements.
  • Ability to manage own workload and keep a record of time (via timesheet system). Prioritise work and manage client and partner expectations.  Foresee potential problems and act accordingly to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be able to write clear and concise letters / e-mails in accordance with clients’ knowledge and understanding of accounting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and presentational skills. Must ensure that all information sent to clients is accurate and well presented.

Trainee Audit/Accounts Junior 2019 Summer Intake

Our trainee audit and accountant position would suit an intelligent and proactive A level student or graduate with excellent communication skills.

This is a trainee role and includes training towards the qualification as a Chartered Accountant. The role is within our Audit and Accounts team and will involve general accounts work such as preparing financial accounts and management accounts, together with statutory audit assignments. You will also have the opportunity to gain experience in corporate tax. Our clients cover a wide range of industries, from start-up businesses to well established successful companies with complex affairs, and thus the experience provided will be both diverse and interesting and provide a useful complement to your studies.

In order to be considered for this role you will have at least three A Levels, C or above (excluding general studies), and including A level Maths. If a graduate applicant you will also have achieved a 2.1 or above in your degree. Overall a strong mathematical academic background including excellent GCSE grades is essential, together with an interest in Accounting and the desire to begin a career in practice.
