Club ‘bowled over’ by support from leading Weybridge accountants

A Weybridge-based bowling club has been ‘bowled over’ by a donation from one of the town’s leading accountancy firms.

The Midsnell Activity Fund, established by MGI Midgley Snelling LLP, has donated £1,000 towards the new grandstand at Oatlands Park Bowling Club.

Oatlands Park Bowling Club was established in 1924 and has 43 members, of whom 35 are active bowlers. It plays in the North West Surrey Bowling Association Leagues, as well as in regular friendlies, with a number of its players bowling for Surrey at county level or in county competitions.

The club is keen to welcome new players of all standards. It has a clubhouse and has recently constructed a grandstand for players and spectators.

The donation of £1,000 from the Midsnell Activity Fund has contributed towards the construction of the grandstand, which the club hopes will help get more people interested in bowling.

Tracey Wickens, a Partner at MGI Midgley Snelling LLP, said: “I was delighted to be able to present this cheque to the club. The new grandstand looks fantastic and is sure to encourage more people to join the club and get active.

“Bowling is a sport which is accessible to an especially wide range of people, and so to be able to help invest in the club’s facilities is a particularly effective way for us to help increase levels of physical activity in the community.

“Here at MGI Midgley Snelling LLP, we are committed through the Midsnell Activity Fund to helping people in Weybridge and the surrounding area become more active.

Barry Judd, President of Oatlands Park Bowling Club, said: “We are very grateful to MGI Midgley Snelling LLP and the Midsnell Activity Fund for this kind donation, which has helped to significantly upgrade our facilities for members and visitors.

“We are keen to see as many people as possible getting active, playing bowls and joining our club. I hope this will be the legacy of the donation from MGI Midgley Snelling LLP and the Midsnell Activity Fund.”

MGI Midgley Snelling LLP established the Midsnell Activity Fund to promote engagement and participation in a range of different activities, enabling more people to live active, healthy and interesting lives.
