Sports team nets hundreds of pounds to encourage returning players, thanks to Weybridge accountants

A sports team has netted hundreds of pounds to encourage returning netball players, thanks to a Weybridge-based accountancy firm.

MGI Midgley Snelling LLP presented a cheque for £275 through its Midsnell Activity Fund to the Surrey Heath Netball Club’s Allsorts team, which specifically caters for players returning to the sport.

The award helped the team enter a charity netball tournament in support of the Looking Good Feel Better cancer support charity, which helps people deal with the visible side-effects of cancer treatment.

The tournament on 9 September 2018, which raised more than £30,000 in total for the cause, was split across three courts. Allsorts had mixed results during the day, winning two, but losing four of their matches – although two of these were narrow defeats.

Tracey Wickens, a Partner at MGI Midgley Snelling LLP, said: “When we heard about Allsorts and the Looking Good Feel Better tournament, we were eager to lend the support of the Midsnell Activity Fund.

“This was a great way to make a difference to the community, both through support for participation in a physical activity – the purpose of the Midsnell Activity Fund – and by supporting the tournament in raising funds for Looking Good Feel Better.”

MGI Midgley Snelling LLP established the Midsnell Activity Fund to promote engagement and participation in a range of different activities, enabling more people to live active, healthy and interesting lives.
