This year marks an incredible milestone for MGI Midgley Snelling LLP as we celebrate our 100th anniversary.
Since Mr H.A. Snelling first began practising as a Chartered Accountant on 14 May 1925, our firm has grown from humble beginnings at 195 Strand, London, to becoming a founding member of MGI Worldwide, a leading international accounting network spanning over 100 countries.
From our first client, Ferry Hotel (Bourne End) Ltd, to today’s expansive portfolio of clients across the UK and internationally, we have remained committed to delivering excellence in family office, audit, consulting, taxation and accounting services.
Our history is one of resilience, innovation and community spirit including the establishment of our first international partnerships in 1947.
Looking back at our history
After its founding, the firm quickly established itself in London, moving from Aldwych to Chancery Lane in 1935, before enduring the challenges of World War Two, when offices were destroyed, and work continued from partners’ homes.
In 1947, the firm relocated to Ibex House, Minories in London, before further expansion led to the opening of our Weybridge office in 1974, with its international air travel links close by, allowing us to better serve our growing international clientele.
Throughout the 20th century, our reputation as innovators and international connectors grew, leading to the formation of Midsnell Group International, now known as MGI Worldwide.
A year of celebrations
To honour our centenary, MGI Midgley Snelling LLP has planned a year-long series of events and initiatives, blending reflection, community support, and team appreciation.
The festivities began in January when staff returned to the office to find a small token of appreciation placed on each staff member’s desk.
In February, we will turn our focus to fundraising for World Cancer Day, showing our commitment to causes that matter.
As spring approaches, we will continue our tradition of giving back by donating Easter eggs to White Lodge in April, spreading joy to the community just in time for Easter Sunday. White Lodge is a local charity that provides services enabling those with a range of disabilities, their families and carers to lead fulfilling lives in Surrey and beyond.
We are also hoping to do some volunteering later in the year – watch this space!
The pinnacle of our celebrations will take place on 14 May, marking the exact day H.A. Snelling established our firm in 1925.
To commemorate this milestone, we’ll host a special in-house lunch to bring our team together in celebration.
Later in the year, October will see us supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month with fundraising activities, while in November, we will turn our attention to World Diabetes Day, raising awareness and funds for this important cause.
These are just some of the highlights of what promises to be an unforgettable year.
